Possible Causes
Failing magnetron, Loose or failing cooling fan motor, Turntable motor noise, High-voltage transformer vibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the noise is very loud or accompanied by burning smell, stop using the microwave and unplug it immediately.
User checks:
- Remove the glass tray and roller ring, then run the microwave briefly with a cup of water to see if the noise changes (do not run empty).
- If the noise disappears without the tray, inspect the tray, roller ring, and coupler for damage.
- If the noise persists, try to localize it (top, side, rear) without removing any panels.
If noise is from inside the cabinet:
- The magnetron, transformer, or fan motor may be failing.
- Discontinue use and contact a Wolf technician for diagnosis and replacement of the noisy component.
