Possible Causes
Open-circuit NTC sensor in lid, Shorted NTC sensor in lid, Damaged lid sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the AEG multicooker from the mains before opening any covers. Allow the unit to cool completely if it was recently used.
- Power reset: Disconnect the cooker for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program (e.g. Keep Warm) to rule out a temporary logic error.
- Check lid sensor connector: Open the top cover (if accessible via screws on the underside of the lid hinge area). Locate the small harness going to the lid temperature sensor (usually a 2‑wire NTC). Ensure the connector is fully seated on both the lid side and the main board side.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, cut, or burnt wires in the hinge area where the lid harness flexes. If insulation is damaged or wires are broken, the harness should be replaced.
- Test the NTC: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure the lid sensor at room temperature. Typical NTCs read between 5–100 kΩ. An infinite reading indicates an open sensor; near 0 Ω indicates a short. Replace the lid temperature sensor if readings are abnormal.
- Check main PCB: If the sensor and wiring test good but E1 persists, the input circuit on the main control PCB may be defective. Replacement of the main PCB is recommended and should be done by a qualified technician.
