Possible Causes

Inner pot not seated correctly, No food or insufficient liquid in pot, Thermal fuse partially failing, Faulty temperature calibration on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off and unplug the multicooker. Allow it to cool fully before reusing.

  • Check pot placement: Ensure the original AEG inner pot is used and is fully seated on the central heating plate. Misalignment can cause hot spots and false overheat detection.
  • Verify contents: For pressure and rice programs, ensure there is sufficient liquid as per the AEG manual. Running the cooker nearly dry can trigger E3.
  • Clean contact surfaces: Wipe the underside of the inner pot and the heating plate with a soft, dry cloth to remove burnt food, oil, or debris that can cause uneven heating.
  • Try a low-heat program: After cooling, run a low-temperature program (e.g. Keep Warm) with water only. If E3 appears quickly, the overheat protection or thermal fuse may be faulty.
  • Inspect thermal fuse: With the base removed, locate the thermal fuse attached to the heating plate or wiring. Check continuity with a multimeter. If open, replace the thermal fuse with the same rating. If the fuse is intact but E3 persists, the main PCB may require replacement.
