Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve or anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor calibration, Lid not correctly assembled after cleaning

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool and fully depressurize. Never attempt to remove blockages while the unit is under pressure.

  • Disassemble lid components: Remove the steam release valve, float valve, anti-block shield, and inner lid according to the AEG manual.
  • Clean thoroughly: Soak removable parts in warm soapy water and use a soft brush or toothpick to clear any food residue from small holes and channels. Rinse and dry completely.
  • Inspect silicone seals: Check the silicone ring around the float valve and the main lid gasket for deformation, swelling, or food buildup. Clean or replace if damaged.
  • Reassemble correctly: Ensure the steam release valve is installed in the correct orientation and moves freely between positions. The float valve should move up and down without sticking.
  • Test with water: Fill the pot with water to the recommended level and run a pressure program. If E5 recurs with clean components, the pressure sensor or main PCB may be misreading pressure and should be checked or replaced by a technician.
