Possible Causes
Silicone lid gasket not installed or damaged, Gasket twisted or dirty, Steam release valve not set to sealing position, Lid not properly aligned with body, Warped inner pot preventing proper sealing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure it is cool before handling the lid components.
- Check gasket installation: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Inspect for cracks, tears, or deformation. Clean it with warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and reinstall it firmly in the lid groove all the way around.
- Inspect lid groove: Clean the metal or plastic groove in the lid where the gasket sits. Remove any food residue that could prevent a tight seal.
- Verify steam valve position: Ensure the steam release knob or lever is set to the Sealing position for pressure cooking.
- Check lid alignment: Place the lid on the cooker and rotate it to the locked position as indicated by the alignment marks. It should feel secure with no wobble.
- Test with water: Add 2–3 cups of water to the inner pot and run a short pressure program. Watch for steam escaping around the lid. If steam leaks continuously and E5 appears, the gasket may need replacement.
If a new gasket and proper setup do not resolve E5, the lid assembly or inner pot may be warped and should be inspected by a service center.
