Possible Causes

Loose or broken NTC sensor wiring harness, Failed bottom NTC temperature sensor, Corroded connector on main control PCB, Damaged main control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Ambiano multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program (e.g., sauté). If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect bottom sensor wiring: Remove the inner pot and look at the center of the heating plate. From the underside (after removing the base cover screws), locate the small NTC sensor clipped to the underside of the heating plate with two thin wires going to the main PCB. Check for broken, pinched, or burned wires.
  • Check connectors: Gently unplug and re-seat the NTC connector on the main control board. Look for corrosion, bent pins, or loose fit.
  • Test the sensor (for advanced DIYers): With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure across the NTC leads. A typical NTC will read between 50k–150kΩ at room temperature. An infinite (open) reading indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open or the wiring is damaged, replace the bottom NTC temperature sensor assembly or wiring harness. If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control board’s sensor input may be defective and should be replaced.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the base cover, ensure no wires are pinched, then test with water in the pot on a low-heat program.
