Possible Causes

Failed main control PCB, Corrupted firmware, Loose display-to-main-board ribbon cable, Shorted keypad membrane

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the housing.

  • Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 15 minutes to discharge internal capacitors, then reconnect and test. If E6 returns instantly, proceed.
  • Inspect internal connections: Remove the outer shell as per service access. Check the ribbon cable between the display/keypad board and the main power board. Reseat both ends carefully.
  • Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or liquid spills on the control boards. If present, dry thoroughly and clean with isopropyl alcohol (unit unplugged).
  • Keypad test: If certain buttons feel stuck or unresponsive, the keypad membrane may be shorting the control lines. Replace the keypad/display panel if visibly damaged.
  • Board replacement: Persistent E6 with good cabling usually indicates a failed main control PCB. Replace with the correct Ambiano main control board for your model.
