Possible Causes
Dried food in lid lock mechanism, Warped lid components, Misaligned lid lock pin, Residual pressure trapped in inner pot
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Never force the lid open if there is any sign of remaining pressure (steam or hissing). Allow extra time for cooling.
- Ensure full depressurization: Gently move the steam release valve to venting to confirm no steam escapes. If none, proceed.
- Gently wiggle lid: With the unit unplugged and cool, gently rock the lid handle back and forth while applying light upward pressure. Do not use tools to pry.
- Access lock from inside: If accessible, remove the inner lid plate to inspect the lock mechanism for dried food. Clean thoroughly.
- Lubricate lightly: Apply a tiny amount of food-safe silicone lubricant to the metal lock pin if it appears dry or sticky.
- Replace damaged parts: If the lock remains jammed or components are visibly bent, replace the lid lock assembly or entire lid.
