Possible Causes

Loose or broken NTC sensor leads, Failed bottom NTC thermistor, Corroded connector on main control board, Damaged wiring harness between sensor and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program like White Rice. If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect bottom sensor wiring: Remove the inner pot and look at the center of the heating plate. Most Aroma multicookers have a small temperature sensor (NTC) mounted under or near the center of the plate. From the underside (after removing the base cover), check that the two thin sensor wires are firmly connected to the sensor and to the main PCB.
  • Check for damage: Look for pinched, burned, or broken wires in the harness from the sensor to the board. Repair any obvious breaks using proper crimp connectors or replace the harness.
  • Clean and reseat connectors: Disconnect the NTC plug from the control board, inspect for corrosion or bent pins, clean lightly with electronics contact cleaner, and reconnect firmly.
  • Test again: Reassemble the base, plug in, and run a short cycle with an empty inner pot (do not dry-heat for more than 1–2 minutes). If E1 persists, the sensor itself is likely defective and should be replaced.
  • When to stop: If you smell burning, see scorch marks on the board, or are not comfortable working around mains wiring, stop and contact a qualified appliance technician.
