Possible Causes
Overheated heating plate due to dry cooking, Poor contact between inner pot and heating plate, Excessive starch buildup on heating plate, Failing bottom NTC sensor reading too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before touching the heating plate.
- Check for dry cooking: Ensure you always use the cooker with the inner pot in place and with sufficient liquid or food. Running the unit empty can trigger E3.
- Clean the heating plate: Remove the inner pot and wipe the aluminum heating plate with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Remove any burnt-on food, starch, or discoloration. Dry thoroughly.
- Inspect the inner pot bottom: Make sure the bottom of the Aroma inner pot is flat, clean, and not warped. A warped pot can cause hot spots and false overheat readings.
- Check spring plate movement: Gently press the center of the heating plate; it should move down slightly and spring back. If it is stuck in the down or up position, debris may be lodged underneath. Remove the bottom cover and clean around the spring mechanism.
- Test with water: After cleaning, add at least 2 cups of water to the inner pot and run a standard rice or steam cycle. If E3 still appears quickly, the bottom sensor may be faulty and require replacement.
- Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to bypass the temperature sensor or thermal fuse; this is a fire hazard.
