Possible Causes
New unit burning off manufacturing residues, Plastic parts near heating plate overheating, Foreign object trapped near heater, Non-food-safe cleaning chemicals used inside
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the smell is very strong or accompanied by smoke, unplug immediately.
- Initial burn-in: For a new Aroma multicooker, run 2–3 cycles with water and a bit of vinegar to remove manufacturing odors.
- Inspect interior: Ensure no plastic packaging, labels, or utensils are left inside the cooker or under the inner pot.
- Check underside: Remove the bottom cover and look for melted plastic parts near the heating plate. Replace any deformed components.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use strong solvents or abrasive cleaners inside the cooker; residues can produce odors when heated.
- Ventilate: Use the cooker in a well-ventilated area until odors dissipate. If the smell worsens over time, discontinue use and have the unit inspected.
