Possible Causes
Dried food in lid lock channel, Slight residual pressure trapped, Warped lid lock components, Misaligned float valve pin
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never force the lid open if there is any sign of pressure (steam noise, resistance, or raised float).
- Confirm no pressure: Gently move the steam release valve to the venting position. If no steam escapes and the float valve is fully down, pressure is likely released.
- Gently wiggle the lid: With the unit unplugged and cool, gently rock the lid handle back and forth while applying light upward pressure. Do not use tools to pry.
- Clean around the lock: Once open, inspect the locking lugs and channels. Clean thoroughly with warm soapy water to remove dried food.
- Lubricate lightly: Apply a very small amount of food-safe silicone lubricant to the moving lock parts to prevent future sticking.
- Replace damaged lock parts: If plastic tabs are bent or broken, replace the lid lock assembly.
