Possible Causes
Worn or incorrectly installed silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid or pot rim, Damaged float valve seal, Steam release valve stuck partially open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not touch escaping steam. Turn off and unplug the cooker, and allow pressure to release fully before opening.
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the ring from the lid. Ensure it is seated evenly in its groove when installed. Replace if stretched, cracked, or hardened.
- Clean contact surfaces: Wipe the pot rim and lid sealing surface thoroughly. Even small food particles can prevent sealing.
- Check steam release valve: Ensure the valve is set to the 'Sealing' position for pressure cooking. Remove and clean it if it is clogged with starch.
- Examine float valve: Confirm the float pin moves freely and the small silicone cap is intact. Replace the float valve assembly if it leaks.
