Possible Causes
Open main heating element under heater plate, Burned relay on main control board, Loose heater wiring connector, Blown thermal fuse in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool. Internal electrical checks should only be done if you are comfortable and the unit is out of warranty.
- Basic reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then plug back in and test a simple program. If E6 returns immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Check for obvious damage: Turn the unit over and remove the bottom cover. Look for burnt smells, discoloration, or melted insulation near the heater connections.
- Inspect heater terminals: Locate the two main heater terminals on the underside of the heater plate. Ensure both spade connectors are tight and not oxidized or broken.
- Check thermal fuse: Many Black+Decker multicookers include an inline thermal fuse attached to the heater plate wiring. If it appears burned or open (bulged or discolored), it must be replaced with the same rating.
- Control board inspection: Examine the main PCB for a burned heater relay (darkened area, cracked solder joints). If damaged, the control board will need replacement.
