E3 error appears during heating, often when using high-temperature modes like frying or sauté.

Possible Causes
Inner pot not inserted correctly, Cooking without sufficient liquid, Burnt food layer insulating the sensor, Faulty thermal cutoff or overheat sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool before touching internal parts.
- Check inner pot seating: Ensure the original Bosch inner pot is fully seated on the heating plate with no debris underneath. Do not operate without the pot.
- Inspect for burnt food: Remove the pot and check the bottom for a thick burnt layer. Soak and clean the pot thoroughly. Wipe the heating plate gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth (never use abrasive tools).
- Use adequate liquid: For pressure and rice programs, ensure you meet the minimum liquid requirement specified in the Bosch manual. Running dry can trigger E3.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and cooling, plug in and run a low-heat program to confirm normal operation.
- Advanced check: If E3 appears immediately even with a clean, correctly seated pot and proper liquid, the overheat sensor or thermal fuse may be faulty and should be checked and replaced by a technician.
