Possible Causes

Lid not fully closed, Lid interlock switch misaligned, Damaged lid sensor wiring harness, Failed lid switch on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before inspecting the lid or internal parts.

  • Check lid closure: Open and firmly close the lid several times. Make sure the lid arrow/mark aligns with the body mark and that the lid is fully latched.
  • Inspect lid hinge and latch: Look for bent metal, broken plastic tabs, or food debris around the latch and hinge area. Clean with a damp cloth and a soft brush.
  • Check for lid switch actuation: With the unit unplugged, gently press the lid latch mechanism and listen/feel for a small click from the lid switch. If there is no click, the switch or actuator may be damaged.
  • Clean lid sensor area: On some Breville multicookers, a small plastic post or magnet on the lid interacts with a sensor in the body. Wipe both surfaces to remove grease or residue.
  • Test again: Plug the unit back in, close the lid firmly, and try a simple program like "Sauté" or "Slow Cook". If E0 persists, the lid switch or control board likely needs replacement and professional service is recommended.
