Possible Causes

Blocked pressure sensor port in lid, Damaged silicone pressure sensor hose (if equipped), Faulty pressure transducer on control board, Loose pressure sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and fully depressurized before working on the lid or pressure system.

  • Inspect and clean lid: Remove the lid and take out the silicone sealing ring, anti-block shield, and any removable pressure cap. Wash all parts in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  • Clear pressure sensor port: On many Breville pressure multicookers, a small hole or channel in the lid leads to the pressure sensor. Use a soft brush or toothpick (do not use metal) to gently clear any food residue.
  • Check silicone hoses (if visible): Some models use a short silicone tube between the lid port and sensor. Inspect for cracks, kinks, or disconnection.
  • Reassemble carefully: Refit the anti-block shield, sealing ring, and lid components exactly as per the manual, ensuring they are seated evenly.
  • Test with water: Add water to the pot, close the lid, and run a short pressure cycle. If E4 persists, the internal pressure sensor or control board likely needs professional replacement.
