Possible Causes
Damaged or improperly seated silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid sealing surface, Faulty float valve or float valve seal, Steam release valve stuck partially open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool and depressurize fully before removing the lid.
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Check for cracks, warping, or hardening. Clean it with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Replace if damaged or more than 1–2 years old.
- Clean lid sealing surfaces: Wipe the metal rim of the inner pot and the lid sealing channel to remove food residue or oil that can prevent a proper seal.
- Check float valve: Remove and clean the float valve and its small silicone gasket. Ensure the valve moves freely up and down and that the gasket is soft and undamaged.
- Verify steam release position: Make sure the steam release knob or lever is set to the "Sealing" or pressure position, not "Vent".
- Test again: Add water to the pot and run a short pressure program. If E5 returns and you hear continuous hissing from the lid, the sealing ring or valve assembly may need replacement.
