Possible Causes

Open-circuit main heating element under the inner pot, Burned connector at heating element terminals, Failed triac or relay on main PCB, Blown thermal fuse in series with heater

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Internal electrical checks should only be done by someone comfortable working with mains-powered appliances.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the inner pot and inspect the heating plate for discoloration, cracks, or burn marks.
  • Check for obvious wiring damage (if accessible): With the bottom cover removed (only if you are qualified and the unit is unplugged), look for burned connectors or loose wires at the heating element and thermal fuse.
  • Do not bypass safety devices: Never bypass a thermal fuse or safety thermostat. If found open, it must be replaced with the correct Breville-rated part.
  • Functional test: If no obvious damage is visible, the heating element or control board triac may be faulty. These require electrical testing with a multimeter and should generally be handled by a professional technician.
