Possible Causes
Starch buildup in valve, Deformed silicone cap, Corroded or worn valve stem, Misaligned valve installation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never attempt to remove the steam release valve while the cooker is under pressure. Wait until fully depressurized and cool.
- Remove valve: Pull or unscrew the steam release valve from the lid (depending on model).
- Clean thoroughly: Soak the valve in warm soapy water and use a small brush to remove starch and residue from all passages.
- Inspect silicone parts: Check the silicone cap or gasket for deformation or cracks. Replace if damaged.
- Lubricate lightly (optional): Apply a tiny amount of food‑safe silicone lubricant to the stem if it is stiff, avoiding any vent holes.
- Reinstall correctly: Ensure the valve is seated fully and can rotate smoothly between Sealing and Venting positions. Replace the Cosori steam release valve assembly if it remains difficult to operate.
