Possible Causes

Shorted main temperature sensor (NTC) on heating plate, Pinched or melted sensor wires contacting chassis, Moisture or residue bridging sensor connector pins on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool fully. Do not attempt to operate with an active E2 error.

  • Dry the cooker: If there was a recent spill or boil-over, wipe all accessible surfaces. Let the unit air-dry for several hours to rule out moisture-related shorts.
  • Access the base: Place the cooker upside down on a towel. Remove the bottom screws and gently lift off the base cover.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Trace the two-wire harness from the heating plate sensor to the control board. Look for melted insulation, pinched wires, or areas where the wires may touch the metal chassis.
  • Clean connectors: Disconnect the sensor plug from the PCB. Inspect for corrosion, food residue, or moisture. Clean gently with a dry cotton swab. Allow to dry completely.
  • Check for shorts (optional): With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads. A near-zero reading (short) or unstable reading suggests a failed sensor.
  • Correct routing: Reroute any wires that are pressed tightly against sharp metal edges. Use high-temperature cable ties if needed to keep the harness away from the heating plate.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the base cover, plug in, and test a low-heat program. If E2 reappears, the sensor is likely defective.
  • Replace if needed: Install a new main temperature sensor (NTC) designed for your Crock-Pot multicooker model. If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control board may be shorted and should be serviced by a technician.
