Possible Causes
Blocked air vents causing internal temperature rise, Failing main control board misreading sensors, Incorrect replacement sensor with wrong resistance curve, Severe food burn on heating plate causing localized overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely. Overheat conditions can damage plastic parts and wiring.
- Clear ventilation: Ensure all side and bottom vents are free of dust, grease, and obstructions. Clean with a soft brush or vacuum.
- Inspect for burns: Remove the inner pot and inspect the heating plate for heavy burnt-on residue. Clean gently with a damp cloth once cool; do not scratch the aluminum surface.
- Check environment: Operate the cooker on a heat-resistant, open surface with good airflow. Avoid enclosing it in cabinets during use.
- Reset: Leave the unit unplugged for at least 30 minutes to allow internal components to cool and any thermal cutouts to reset.
- Test with water only: Fill the inner pot with 2–3 cups of water and run a low-heat program. If E8 returns quickly, an internal sensor or board fault is likely.
- Replacement: If vents are clear and the heating plate is clean, but E8 persists, the main control board or associated sensors may be defective. These should be diagnosed and replaced by a qualified technician.
