Possible Causes
Lid not fully rotated to locked position, Faulty lid lock microswitch in handle, Misaligned lid locking pin, Broken plastic in lid locking mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and cool before manipulating the lid lock mechanism.
- Verify lid position: Align the lid with the OPEN mark, then rotate firmly to the LOCK position until you hear or feel a click. Some models require the handle to be fully down.
- Inspect locking pin: Check the metal or plastic locking pin on the lid and the corresponding slot on the cooker body. Clean away any food residue that may prevent full engagement.
- Check lid lock movement: Move the lid lock or handle up and down (if applicable) and feel for smooth travel. Stiff or gritty movement suggests internal contamination.
- Clean around switch area: On models where the lid lock switch is accessible, use a dry brush or compressed air to remove debris that may block the switch actuator.
- Test non-pressure modes: Try a Sauté or Brown mode. If these work but pressure modes show LID, the lid lock switch circuit is likely at fault.
- Replacement: If the lid physically locks but the error persists, replace the lid lock assembly with microswitch or the complete lid assembly, depending on parts availability for your Crock-Pot model.
