Possible Causes
Insufficient liquid in inner pot, Steam escaping from lid due to mis-seated sealing ring, Steam release valve left in VENT position, Faulty float valve gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and cool before handling the lid or sealing components.
- Check liquid level: Open the lid and verify that you have at least the minimum required liquid (usually 1–2 cups). Add more liquid if necessary.
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Check for cracks, warping, or food residue. Clean thoroughly and reinstall, ensuring it is fully seated in the groove all the way around.
- Set steam release correctly: Make sure the steam release valve is turned to the SEAL or PRESSURE position, not VENT.
- Check float valve: Ensure the float valve moves freely and the small silicone cap on its stem is intact and flexible. Replace if hardened or damaged.
- Retry cycle: Close and lock the lid, select the pressure program again, and allow time for preheating. If PrE persists or times out, there may be a pressure leak.
- Replacement: If you consistently fail to reach pressure despite correct setup, replace the silicone sealing ring and float valve gasket. If the issue remains, the lid assembly may be warped and require replacement.
