Possible Causes
Inner pot not seated properly, Burned-on food causing hot spots, Defective thermal sensor on heater plate, Failed thermal cutoff fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before touching the inner pot or heater plate.
- Check inner pot placement: Remove the stainless steel or nonstick inner pot and inspect the bottom. Make sure it is clean, flat, and not warped. Reseat the pot fully so it makes even contact with the heater plate.
- Clean heater plate: Wipe the aluminum heater plate with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove any burned-on food or residue. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive pads that can scratch the plate.
- Add sufficient liquid: Ensure you are using the minimum liquid recommended in the Cuisinart manual (often at least 1–2 cups for pressure cooking). Running the unit too dry can trigger E2.
- Test with water only: Add 2 cups of water to the inner pot, close the lid, and run a short pressure or steam cycle. If E2 appears again, the thermal sensor or cutoff may be faulty.
- If E2 persists: Internal temperature sensing components may need replacement. This requires opening the base and should be done by a qualified technician.
