Possible Causes
Shorted thermistor, Heater relay stuck on, Excessive buildup on heater plate, Failed main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker immediately if you suspect overheating. Allow it to cool fully before inspection.
- Inspect for scorching: Remove the inner pot and check for heavy scorching or burned-on food. Clean the pot and heater plate thoroughly with a non-abrasive cleaner and soft cloth.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the cooker is used on a hard, flat surface with several inches of clearance around it. Blocked vents can cause overheating.
- Power cycle: After cooling, unplug for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and test with 2 cups of water on a short cycle. If E4 appears quickly, the sensor or control board is likely defective.
- Do not continue using if smell of burning persists: If you notice a strong burning smell or visible smoke, discontinue use and have the unit inspected by a technician.
- Professional repair: A shorted thermistor or stuck heater relay requires internal electrical repair. Contact a qualified service center.
