Possible Causes
Blocked pressure sensor port, Defective pressure sensor, Loose pressure sensor wiring, Failed control board pressure circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is completely depressurized before inspection. Unplug the unit.
- Clean pressure sensor port: On many Cuisinart pressure multicookers, the pressure sensor is connected to a small port or channel under the lid or in the lid assembly. Remove the lid and inspect the underside for a small hole or channel leading to the sensor. Use a toothpick or soft brush to gently clear any food residue.
- Check inner lid and gasket: Remove the inner lid plate (if present) and clean all steam channels. Make sure the silicone gasket is seated correctly and not blocking any sensor openings.
- Test with water: Add 2–3 cups of water, close the lid, set to a short pressure program, and observe. If E5 appears before pressure builds, the sensor may not be reading correctly.
- Internal wiring (advanced): If you are experienced, remove the outer housing to locate the pressure sensor (usually a small round or rectangular device connected by a tube or directly mounted near the heater). Check that its connector is firmly seated on the control board.
- Service if unresolved: A failed pressure sensor or control board should be replaced by a professional. Do not attempt to bypass the pressure sensor.
