Possible Causes
Pressure release valve left in vent position, Valve cap not seated properly, Damaged or missing valve silicone seal, Blocked valve stem preventing closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the cooker is hot, use a utensil or heat-resistant glove to adjust the valve. Keep hands away from steam.
- Set valve to Seal: Rotate or flip the steam release valve to the Seal or Pressure position as indicated in the Cuisinart manual.
- Inspect valve cap: Remove the valve cap (if removable) and check for food particles or starch buildup. Clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
- Check silicone seal: Ensure the small silicone plug or gasket under the valve cap is present, flexible, and not torn. Replace if hardened or damaged.
- Reassemble correctly: Reinstall the valve cap, making sure it sits fully down on the stem and moves freely between positions.
- Test with water: Add 2 cups of water and run a short pressure cycle. If VENT persists despite the valve being correctly set, the valve assembly may need replacement.
