Possible Causes
Residual pressure not fully released, Float valve stuck in up position, Lid lock mechanism jammed with food, Warped lid components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the lid open. Forcing can cause sudden release of hot steam or food.
- Check pressure indicator: Verify that the float valve has dropped. If it is still up, there may be residual pressure.
- Manual venting: Carefully move the steam release valve to Vent using a utensil. If no steam escapes and the float remains up, gently tap the lid near the float to free it.
- Allow full cooling: Unplug the cooker and let it sit for 30–60 minutes. As it cools, internal pressure should drop and the lock should release.
- Inspect after opening: Once open, clean the lid lock mechanism, float valve, and surrounding areas thoroughly to remove any food that could cause sticking.
- Service if mechanical damage: If the lid remains stuck despite no pressure and cooling, the lock mechanism may be damaged and should be serviced.
