Odor Retention / Bacterial Growth
Unpleasant odor from inside the cooker even after cleaning
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Food residue under lid gasket, Dirty steam release valve, Residue in condensation collector, Porous inner pot coating holding smells
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool before cleaning.
- Deep clean lid: Remove the lid gasket, inner lid, steam release valve, and anti-block shield. Wash all removable parts in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Clean collector: Remove and thoroughly clean the condensation collector and rear vent path.
- Deodorize pot: Fill the inner pot with water and a few tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice. Run a short steam or boil cycle, then rinse.
- Air dry: Store the cooker with the lid open or ajar to allow moisture and odors to dissipate.
If odors persist and the inner pot coating is scratched or worn, consider replacing the inner pot.
