Possible Causes

Lid not fully closed, Defective lid-closed microswitch, Misaligned lid hinge or latch, Broken lid lock mechanism

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker before inspecting the lid mechanism. Allow the unit to cool completely if recently used.

  • Check lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly several times. Make sure no food residue, gasket misalignment, or foreign objects are preventing the lid from closing fully.
  • Inspect the lid latch: Verify that the front latch hooks properly into the base. If it feels loose or does not click, the latch or lock assembly may be worn.
  • Clean the lid area: Wipe the lid rim, gasket, and latch area with a damp cloth to remove dried food that may block the lid sensor.
  • Test the microswitch: With the unit unplugged, gently press the lid lock area and listen/feel for a small click from the internal microswitch. If there is no click or it feels stuck, the switch may be faulty.
  • Reset the unit: Plug the cooker back in, close the lid firmly, and try a simple program (e.g., KEEP WARM or RICE). If E1 persists, the lid switch or lock assembly likely needs replacement.

If you are not comfortable opening the housing to access the lid switch, contact a qualified De'Longhi service technician.
