Possible Causes

Worn or damaged silicone lid gasket, Misaligned or dirty sealing surfaces, Faulty float valve or safety valve, Lid not correctly locked into position

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the cooker is cool and depressurized before removing the lid or valves.

  • Inspect the silicone gasket: Remove the gasket from the lid. Check for cracks, hardening, deformation, or food buildup. Clean it with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
  • Clean lid groove and rim: Wipe the gasket groove and the metal rim of the pot to remove grease and residue that can prevent sealing.
  • Check float and safety valves: Remove the float valve (if accessible) and clean any starch deposits. Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean the safety valve and anti-block shield.
  • Reinstall correctly: Fit the gasket evenly around the lid, ensuring it is not twisted. Lock the lid firmly and set the pressure regulator to the correct position.
  • Test with water only: Run a short pressure program with at least 2 cups of water. If E8 reappears and steam still leaks, the gasket or valve assembly may need replacement.
