Possible Causes
Food residue in lid lock, Warped lid components from overheating, Misaligned float valve, Mechanical failure of lock spring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure there is no remaining pressure. Gently move the pressure valve to confirm no steam escapes. Keep hands and face away from the valve.
- Allow extra cooling time: Sometimes internal parts contract as they cool, releasing the lock. Wait an additional 20–30 minutes.
- Gently wiggle lid: With the unit unplugged and cool, gently move the lid handle back and forth without forcing it. Do not use tools or excessive force.
- Check float valve: Tap lightly on the float valve from the outside to ensure it is fully dropped.
- Service if still stuck: If the lid remains locked, internal parts may be jammed. Forcing it can break the lock or lid. A technician can safely disassemble the lid from inside.
