Possible Causes

Inner pot too hot from previous cycle, Little or no liquid in pot, Food stuck to bottom causing localized overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use oven mitts when handling the hot inner pot. Steam can cause burns.

  • Allow to cool: Press Cancel, unplug the cooker, and let it cool for 15–20 minutes.
  • Check food and liquid level: Open the lid (if not under pressure) and stir the contents. Ensure there is enough liquid per the recipe and manual minimums.
  • Deglaze the pot: If food is stuck to the bottom, remove the food, add a cup of water, and scrape the bottom with a wooden spoon to remove browned bits.
  • Restart with adequate liquid: Refill to the recommended level and restart the program. Avoid using thick sauces on the bottom; layer liquids first.

If “HOT” appears even with adequate liquid and no stuck food, the temperature sensor may be reading incorrectly and should be checked by a technician.
