Possible Causes

Burnt food stuck to bottom of inner pot, Insufficient liquid in pot, Faulty NTC temperature sensor on heating plate, Poor contact between inner pot and heating plate

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the cooker to cool completely before touching internal parts.

  • Check food and liquid level: Open the lid once pressure is fully released. Inspect the bottom of the inner pot for burnt food. Ensure you always use at least the minimum liquid level specified in the ETA manual.
  • Clean the inner pot: Remove the pot and soak in warm soapy water. Use a non-abrasive sponge to remove burnt residue. Do not scratch the non-stick coating.
  • Clean the heating plate: Once cool, wipe the heating plate with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Remove any food particles or oil. Dry thoroughly.
  • Check pot contact: Reinsert the pot and ensure it sits flat. If the pot is warped, replace it to restore proper heat transfer.
  • Reset thermal protection: Unplug the cooker for 10–15 minutes to allow the internal thermal fuse/thermostat to reset. Then test with water only on a basic cooking program.

When to call a technician: If E3 appears even with clean surfaces, correct liquid levels, and a good pot, the NTC sensor or control board may be defective and requires professional diagnosis.
