Possible Causes
Open-circuit lid NTC sensor, Shorted lid NTC sensor, Damaged lid sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control board (PCB)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Gorenje multicooker from the mains before opening any covers. Allow the unit to cool completely.
- Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try a short program (e.g. reheat). Sometimes transient sensor errors clear after a reset.
- Check lid seating: Open and close the lid firmly. Make sure the lid is fully locked and the hinge is not twisted. A misaligned lid can strain the lid sensor wiring.
- Inspect lid sensor cable: On most Gorenje multicookers, the lid temperature sensor wiring runs through the hinge area. Remove the top plastic cover (usually a few screws under the lid rim) and look for pinched, cut, or burnt wires. Repair minor damage with high‑temperature rated wire and heat‑shrink, or replace the harness if badly damaged.
- Test the NTC sensor: Disconnect the lid sensor plug from the PCB. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature; typical NTC values are 50–150 kΩ at 25°C (check service data if available). Infinite resistance indicates an open sensor; near‑zero ohms indicates a short. Replace the lid temperature sensor if readings are out of range.
- Check PCB connector: Inspect the sensor connector on the control board for corrosion, loose pins, or heat damage. Clean with contact cleaner and reseat the plug firmly.
- If E1 persists: After confirming the sensor and wiring are good, the fault is likely on the main control board. Replacement of the PCB is recommended and may require a qualified technician.
