Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Blocked safety valve or anti‑block shield, Faulty pressure sensor on lid or top housing, Damaged pressure sensor hose or wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Ensure the cooker is completely depressurized and unplugged before servicing. Never attempt to open the lid under pressure.

  • Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release knob/valve from the lid. Clean all holes with a brush and warm soapy water. Ensure it moves freely.
  • Check anti‑block shield: Inside the lid, remove the metal anti‑block shield (if fitted) and clean any food residue. A clogged shield can cause false overpressure readings.
  • Inspect safety valve: Verify that the safety valve pin moves up and down freely and is not stuck with dried food or scale. Clean and descale if necessary.
  • Examine pressure sensor tube: Some Gorenje models use a small silicone hose from the lid or top chamber to a pressure sensor on the PCB. Check that the hose is not kinked, blocked, or cracked. Replace if hardened or damaged.
  • Check pressure sensor connector: Open the top cover and ensure the pressure sensor plug is firmly seated on the control board. Look for corrosion or moisture damage.
  • Test operation: Reassemble, add water to the pot, and run a short pressure program. If E4 persists and mechanical parts are clean and moving freely, the pressure sensor or PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced.
