Possible Causes
Damaged or hardened lid sealing ring, Steam release valve not in sealing position, Leaking safety valve, Cracked lid or deformed lid seat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the cooker to cool and fully depressurize before opening the lid.
- Check sealing ring: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Inspect for cracks, deformation, or hardening. Clean it and the lid groove thoroughly. Replace the ring if it is not soft and round.
- Verify valve position: Ensure the steam release valve/knob is set to the correct sealing position for pressure cooking. Clean the valve and its seat.
- Inspect safety valve: Check the safety valve for signs of constant leaking (starch deposits, water marks). If it does not seal properly, replace the safety valve.
- Check lid and pot rim: Inspect the stainless steel rim of the inner pot and the lid contact surface for dents or warping that could prevent a proper seal.
- Test with water: Fill the pot with water to the minimum line and run a short pressure program. Observe for steam leaks around the lid. If leaks persist after replacing the seal and valves, the lid assembly may need replacement.
