Possible Causes
Residual pressure in the pot, Safety pin mechanism jammed with food residue, Deformed lid lock components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Never force the lid open. Forcing can cause sudden release of hot contents.
- Check for pressure: Gently move the steam release valve to the venting position with a utensil. If steam escapes, wait until it stops completely.
- Cool the cooker: Unplug and allow the unit to cool for 20–30 minutes. Cooling reduces internal pressure.
- Tap safety pin: Once cool and depressurized, gently tap the safety pin from the top with a wooden spoon to free it if stuck by dried food.
- Clean mechanism: After opening, thoroughly clean the safety pin channel and lid lock area. If parts are deformed or corroded, replace the lid lock/safety valve assembly.
