Possible Causes
Steam release valve stuck closed, Blocked anti-block shield or steam vent, Excessive food foaming blocking vent, Faulty pressure sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the cooker is hot, do not force the lid open. Allow pressure to drop naturally or use the steam release valve according to the manual. Unplug the unit.
- Inspect steam release valve: Once depressurized and cool, remove the steam release valve. Ensure it moves freely and is not jammed with dried food or starch. Clean thoroughly with warm soapy water.
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove the metal or plastic anti-block shield from the underside of the lid. Scrub away any buildup that could restrict steam flow.
- Avoid overfilling: Check that you are not exceeding the MAX fill line, especially with foamy foods like beans, rice, or pasta. Overfilling can cause vent blockage and trigger E5.
- Check float valve: Ensure the float valve pin moves freely up and down and that its small silicone cap is intact. Clean any residue around the valve seat.
- Sensor/board issues (advanced): If mechanical parts are clean and E5 still appears, the pressure sensor or control board may be misreading pressure. Inspect the pressure sensor wiring and replace the sensor or lid PCB if necessary.
