Foaming / Overfilled Pot Causing Venting
Excessive steam or liquid spurts from the steam release valve during pressure cooking.

Possible Causes
Pot filled above maximum line, Cooking foamy foods (beans, pasta, oatmeal) without enough oil or rest time, Clogged anti-block shield, Starch buildup in steam release valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of the steam vent. Do not cover the valve with cloths or objects.
- Stop the program: Cancel cooking and allow the cooker to depressurize naturally if safe to do so.
- Check fill level: Once depressurized and cool, open the lid and ensure food and liquid are below the recommended maximum (usually 2/3 full, or 1/2 for foamy foods).
- Clean anti-block shield and valve: Remove and wash the anti-block shield and steam release valve components thoroughly to remove starch and foam residue.
- Adjust recipes: For foamy foods, add a small amount of oil and avoid overfilling. Use natural release instead of quick release to reduce splatter.
- Re-test: Run a shorter cycle with adjusted quantities. If venting remains extreme, the valve assembly may be worn and need replacement.
