Possible Causes
Damaged or mis-seated lid gasket (sealing ring), Steam release valve not in Sealed position, Debris on lid sealing surfaces, Worn float valve gasket leaking steam
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool and fully release pressure before opening.
- Check steam release position: Ensure the steam release valve is set to the correct Sealed or Pressure position per the user manual.
- Inspect lid gasket: Remove the large silicone sealing ring from the lid. Check for cracks, hardening, or deformation. Clean it and the lid groove with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and reinstall evenly all the way around.
- Clean lid sealing surfaces: Wipe the top rim of the cooker body and the underside of the lid where they meet. Remove any food residue or rice grains that could prevent sealing.
- Check float valve and gasket: Remove the float valve pin and silicone cap. Clean both parts and the valve channel. Replace the float valve gasket if it is stretched or cracked.
- Replace worn parts: If E5 persists and you see steam escaping around the lid, replace the lid sealing ring (gasket) and, if needed, the steam release valve assembly.
