Possible Causes
Failed electronic pressure sensor, Blocked pressure sensor tube or port, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty ADC circuit on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure it is fully depressurized before working near the lid or pressure components.
- Clean pressure path: Remove and clean the steam release valve, float valve, and any removable anti-block shield on the underside of the lid. Ensure the pressure channel is not clogged with food.
- Inspect pressure sensor tube: Some models have a small silicone or metal tube from the lid or inner chamber to a pressure sensor. Check that it is not kinked, blocked, or disconnected.
- Check wiring: Verify the pressure sensor connector is firmly seated on the control board and that the wires are intact.
- Replace pressure sensor: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve E9, replace the pressure sensor assembly with the correct Hamilton Beach part. If the sensor is integrated into the main board, the main control PCB must be replaced.
