Possible Causes
Food residue in lid lock channel, Warped lid or misaligned hinge, Damaged lid locking pin, Residual pressure trapped due to blocked steam release valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never force the lid open if there is any sign of pressure (steam hissing, float valve up). Risk of burns.
- Confirm pressure is released: Gently move the steam release valve to the Vent position using a long utensil. If steam escapes, wait until it stops completely.
- Tap around lid lock: Once fully depressurized, gently tap around the lid lock area with a wooden spoon to free any stuck components.
- Clean lock mechanism: After opening, remove the lid and clean the locking pin, channels, and hinge area with warm soapy water. Remove any dried food.
- Inspect for damage: If the locking pin is bent or the hinge is loose, replace the lid lock assembly or lid hinge assembly as needed.
