Possible Causes
Secondary temperature sensor failure, Loose or damaged sensor wiring, Failed main control board (PCB), Corroded or burnt connector on sensor harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooker and let it cool fully before inspection.
- 1. Hard reset: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and try a basic program. If C2 returns, proceed.
- 2. Inspect base for damage: Remove the inner pot and examine the heating plate and center sensor area. Look for burn marks, discoloration, or melted plastic that may indicate overheating.
- 3. Check for spills: If food or liquid has overflowed into the base, gently clean the exposed metal surfaces with a slightly damp cloth (unit unplugged) and allow to dry completely for at least 24 hours.
- 4. Gentle tap test: With the unit unplugged, gently tap around the base to see if any loose parts rattle, which may indicate a broken sensor or bracket.
- 5. If under warranty: Do not open the housing; contact Instant Brands support. Internal sensor replacement requires opening the base and working near mains wiring.
- 6. Out of warranty: A qualified technician can open the base, test continuity of the secondary temperature sensor with a multimeter, and replace the sensor harness or main PCB as needed.
