Possible Causes
Worn sealing ring losing elasticity, Float valve not sealing properly, Steam release valve leaking, Hairline crack in lid or lid housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the cooker to depressurize naturally before opening.
- 1. Observe for leaks: During a water-only test, watch for continuous steam escaping from the lid edges, float valve, or steam release valve.
- 2. Replace sealing ring: If the ring is old, stretched, or smells strongly, replace it with a genuine Instant Pot ring.
- 3. Service float valve: Remove the float valve and silicone cap. Clean both parts and the valve channel. Reinstall ensuring the cap is fully seated.
- 4. Inspect steam release valve: Check for cracks or hardened silicone. Replace the valve assembly if it does not seal properly.
- 5. If leaks persist with new parts: The lid body may be warped or cracked. Replace the complete lid assembly.
