Possible Causes

Severe scorching on bottom of inner pot, Insufficient liquid, Blocked heat dissipation around sensor, Faulty bottom temperature sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool. Do not attempt to open the lid if under pressure.

  • Release pressure safely: Once the float valve drops, open the lid and remove the inner pot.
  • Clean inner pot thoroughly: Remove any burnt food from the bottom of the pot. Soak and scrub until the stainless surface is clean and smooth.
  • Clean heating plate and sensor: With the unit unplugged, wipe the heating plate and center sensor area with a damp cloth, then dry completely. Remove any burnt residue.
  • Check recipe and liquid: Ensure you are not using thick sauces or very starchy foods without enough liquid. Add more water or broth and avoid thickening until after pressure cooking.
  • Test with water only: Add 2–3 cups of water and run a short Pressure Cook cycle. If E1 returns with clean hardware and adequate liquid, the bottom temperature sensor may be faulty and require replacement.
