Possible Causes
Insufficient liquid, Thick or starchy food causing scorching, Blocked steam release path, Faulty overheat sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool. Do not force the lid open under pressure.
- Check liquid and recipe: Confirm you are using enough thin liquid (water, broth). Avoid starting pressure cook with very thick sauces or purees.
- Clean inner pot and base: Remove any burnt-on food from the inner pot and wipe the heating plate clean and dry.
- Inspect steam release and float valve: Remove and clean the steam release cap, anti-block shield, and float valve. Ensure all passages are clear.
- Run a water test: Add 2–3 cups of water and run a short Pressure Cook cycle. If E5 recurs with water only, the overheat sensing circuit (bottom sensor or control board) may be faulty and require professional service.
