Possible Causes

Incorrect or warped inner pot, Dirty or oxidized pot contact surface, Defective pot presence sensor, Damaged sensor wiring on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before touching the heating plate or sensor area.

  • Use the original Kenmore inner pot: Ensure you are using the correct, fully flat-bottomed Kenmore inner pot. Third-party or warped pots may not be detected properly.
  • Clean contact surfaces: Remove the inner pot and gently wipe the underside of the pot and the central sensor area on the heating plate with a soft, dry cloth. Remove any burnt-on residue or oil film.
  • Check for warping: Place the inner pot on a flat countertop and see if it rocks. If it is warped, replace the pot.
  • Re-seat the pot: Place the pot back in the cooker, rotate it slightly to ensure full contact with the heating plate, then close the lid and try again.
  • Inspect sensor wiring (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the bottom cover and visually inspect the pot sensor wiring harness from the center plate to the main control board. Look for loose connectors or broken wires and reseat connectors firmly.

If E2 continues with a clean, correct pot, the pot sensor or control board may require replacement.
