Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor on lid or body, Overfilled inner pot beyond MAX line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to force open the lid while under pressure. Unplug the unit and allow it to depressurize naturally or use the manual steam release if the recipe allows.

  • Check fill level: After pressure is fully released, open the lid and verify that food and liquid are below the MAX line. Remove excess contents if overfilled.
  • Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release handle/valve cap and wash it thoroughly. Ensure the vent hole is clear.
  • Clean anti-block shield: Remove the metal anti-block shield from the underside of the lid (if equipped) and clean any food residue or starch buildup.
  • Inspect silicone parts: Check the float valve and silicone cap for free movement and cleanliness. Replace if swollen or cracked.
  • Test with water only: Run a short pressure cycle with only water to see if E5 reoccurs. If it does, the pressure sensor or control board may be misreading pressure.

Persistent E5 with clean, correctly filled operation suggests a failing pressure sensor that should be replaced.
